The Whole Earth Is Full of His Glory: Honoring the Giver by Enjoying His Gifts

The goal of this course is to push Christian Hedonism into the corners, to address some of the practical and pastoral problems that result when people become passionate about the supremacy of God in all things.

Through the Scriptures and the writings of Jonathan Edwards, John Piper, and C. S. Lewis, we will explore an earthy, Trinitarian Christian Hedonism that sees the world as the narratival communication of God's fullness. Along the way we'll discuss practical issues in the Christian life, such as the relationship of gifts and Giver, love for one's family, friends, and neighbors, the dangers of idolatry, ingratitude, and false guilt, and the complexities of living a wartime lifestyle. In the end, our aim will be to see that a passion for God's glory is as wide as his world.
