Hebrew 1: Introduction to Biblical Hebrew
Hebrew 1: Introduction to Biblical Hebrew is a two-semester course in order to introduce students of the Bible to the original language of the Old Testament in a communicative manner.
Utilizing the methods of many other second language acquisition programs, this course seeks to internalize the language itself enabling the student to comprehend the Hebrew text immediately.
Class time will largely consist of activities like role-playing, total physical response (TPR), and interactive storying, all designed to get students hearing and using the language. This will be supplemented with homework from Randall Buth’s Living Biblical Hebrew curriculum as well as Hebrew Bible memorization and interactive videos. The end goal of all this language work is to help students read their Hebrew Bible in the Hebrew language with greater speed and proficiency.
